It's too early to judge a team by one game. Still, I'm sure the Kentucky faithful are nervous. There may even have been someone in the stands saying "oh well, at least we have football".
i havent checked the box score, but GW better be a senior laden team that shot lights out from 3. otherwise this game does mean something. UK still has crawford and randolph?
UNC lost to UC-Santa Barbara in '04 or '05 (but not at home) and lost only 2 more the rest of the way in winning the championship. Granted, UK is not nearly as talented as that team, but this sort of thing shouldn't shock anyone any more. Just look at this year's football season as a comparison.
Yeah, it is no big deal in basketball (though is was Santa Clara ) and the loss doesn't matter. The players are getting adjusted to a new scheme and have very little post presence except for a true freshman. They will be very competitive come SEC play.
ok, checked it out. GW had one Sr get significant pt. and only one player over 6'5" get significant pt. GW shot well from 3 but not lights out. 47%. UK shot poorly overall but their 3s kept them in it 32%. surprisingly, GW had 4 more turnovers. uk got beat because they got beat because they shot poorly from 2 and they defended like crap. yipeeee!
game was on espnu...gw sliced & diced the uk d. amazing to see uk try to mount a run and simply be unable to do so. at home.
