There could be a million reasons why the kid would decide to go elsewhere. And choosing a program like Bama would not be a bad choice. Saban is pretty good at developing DB'S too. And that "me first" accusation just doesn't fly in my book as he is not going to be given a job at any top flight program. I hope he becomes a Tiger but can understand of he decides to go out of state. At least he didn't choose USM.
No offense Steve, but you probably would be better served not following recruiting with that line of thinking. Many current Tigers played the same game prior to signing their LOI with LSU. Are they disingenuous? It is a game. Not sure why folks get so riled up over it. It's this simple... If he's a Tiger, WELCOME!! If he's not, TIGER BAIT!!
These kids aren't guaranteed any fame on the collegiate level. This is the last chance for many of them to be a star in the somewhat brief though ever-brightening spotlight that is fixated in their direction. So for some kids they lengthen and enjoy the process as much as possible. Others see it as a distraction and want the phone to stop ringing. Still others never see that spotlight fixate on them but rather linger all around them finding its stay on kids they feel they are better players than and use it as motivation. The list goes on and on as to how to approach recruiting. We shall see how it plays out, but I find it hard to fault any kid in the way they enjoy the process as long as they are not purposely deceitful nor malicious throughout. Joe McKnight's recruitment was a stark contrast to how things transpired with Janzen Jackson for example.
JC Scherbert (sp?) said on the Bill King radio show last week, during the recruiting segment, that he would not be surprised to see Collins pull the Bama hat this week, but would also NOT be surprised to see Collins switch that back to LSU before signing day. He said he feels the pull of LSU is too strong, even if he puts on the Bama hat Thursday. I guess his point was that this kid may change his mind at the last minute down the stretch. We'll find out shortly.
If he picks Bama Thursday, he might switch back to LSU on NSD. But if he picks LSU, he won't switch to Bama. The backlash would be too bad.
