Article confirms a what is posted above about Rivers' being hamstrung by lack of players at skill positions: Last season, Rivers completed 61 percent of his passes for more than 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns. But Athens isn’t as deep at wide receiver this season, and Rivers hasn’t surpassed 100 yards passing in his first two games of 2010. He is basically like Hilliard too. No oline to protect him. Basically running for his life on 3/4ths of his throws. :hihi:
S. Rivers just helped win a big one versus a rival high school in AL tonight. Two rushing TD's and one passing with less than a minute left.
nice mention for Stephen Rivers on MNF Stephen Rivers name was just brought up during the Chargers v Broncos MNF game. Tirico brought up that Phillip Rivers had a younger brother who was a great high school qb. They even showed footage of Stephen and how similar his delivery is to his brother. Gruden then made the comment how happy Mike the Tiger was going to be with this kid there next year, and then Tirico added that Les Miles should be happy also. Glad to see anytime LSU can be mentioned on a national broadcast like MNF:geaux:
I hope this Rivers is like his brother and gets better with time. He has some tools and probably some of the same intangibles, coaches son, around the game a long time.
After watching his footage on Rivals. I must say. I like what I see. I still want Zach, but rivers certainly gives us a reliable building block. Especially knowing that JJ and JL will be coming back, with another year in the system, plus the coaches trusting them to throw the ball, we should have another great season. What I like about rivers is that: -Pressure doesn't seem to rattle him & -He keeps his eyes downfield. Adding weight to the 6'6 frame and Rivers could grow into something special..
Exactly right, I love his pocket presence. He has the tools and just needs the time to refine them and add some lbs. He has that time especially with Mett coming in.
