Miles likes to offer his OLman in person and after they have been evaluated in person. After the July Camp we should have a better idea who we are going to offer. We have the Juco Hardrick and the TE convert Fordham on the OL committed and I expect to see us land a couple of more with some being converts from the DL like in-state kid Elliot Porter. Guys like Wes Rea and Alex Hill will get another chance at the next camp. We took 6 DL last year and I think we will get 3 this year but 1 or 2 of them will be late commits if we land them.
If Rea and Hill didn't get an offer and attended the camp we can't be that impressed. We offered Porter out of position before we offered these guys. I know Rea is highly ranked on Rivals-4*, but this makes me think he is overrated. I noticed that Miles likes to go after the big boys, regardless of whether they are a OT or OG, often taking OT's and playing them at OG. I like this philosophy, but since Rea is a tall guard, every bit as big as Elliot, I don't think his size is a factor.
Rea gut hurt(hammy i think playing baseball at a tourny in La) like the day before camp and didnt attend.
I'm sorry he was hurt, but I am glad the reason we didn't offer was because he didn't attend camp. This would indicate that he may be a legit 4* and we may have a good shot at him. Great news.
Texas currently has 19 verbals, all from the state of Texas. Only 3 are 3*, the rest are 4*. The good news is that they can probably only sign about 6 more which may leave us a few good ones.
I dont think we are settling for Texas Leftovers....i think the players we want that are still out there, we have just as good a chance as any team, including Texas to sign them. We are doing just fine with the recruits we are after. Its a very thin year across the board, so putting these classes together isn't going to be as easy as in years past. There will be alot more evaluation and imagination. Meaning, we will have to look for those undeveloped, under radar guys that may need to switch positions for us. I am confident that we have the coaching staff to get us the players we need to be successful in the coming years. Not to mention, I think last years and next years classess will tide us over. Geaux Tigers.
Whats the story on Richard Ash from Florida.. three star that shows a offer from LSU on Scout. Is he working his way to the top of our chart because others above him are comitting elsewhere or is he just that good in the coachs eyes?
