Dandy Don is reporting 1 player has opted out and seven others are out for academics for the bowl game. No names mentioned, but some thought to be starters. I just don't get it. I thought LSU had a staff that monitored the academic progress of the players to ensure they were doing what they needed to to do in the classroom. I can't remember the last time this has happened at another SEC school! I guess this is what happens when you bring players to a college campus that have no interest in being in college, except to play football. Are there any good flag football players on campus that we can borrow for one game?
I have a feeling that the coaching staff didn't have any fucks to give in the second half of the season.
This was the outcome I was afraid of when the coup d'état happened years ago. I am happy for 2019 but other than that O did exactly what he always does, puts himself first ruining everything around him in the process. He said he loves LSU but did he love it enough to keep it healthy. I think we are seeing the sickness right now.
thar is why you dont let orgeron finish the season when you fire someone in the real world they leave immediately and they are escorted out. Badges and keys and phones etc are confiscated. That is how this should have happenned. I thank Orgeron for 2019 and it will always be a special season to remember but he did this to himself. Charachter matters when you in charge of young men. I hope Kelly is given a chance and people are patient because he is inheriting a dumpster fire.
As an LSU fan, I agree with CalcoTiger's post in part in that I too hope that "Kelly is given a chance and people are patient because he is inheriting a dumpster fire", but thinking that keeping O to finish out the season was quite possible the best option available. Of course, we'll never know for sure, but those players who want to be Tigers are getting that chance to get added coaching, practise and play in a bowl game which I suspect wouldn't have happened without having kept O. We've got enough fights ahead of us and didn't need the drama of ousting O mid-season. I'm glad that O went out a winner as that last game of the season was sweet for LSU as a whole... I'm looking forward to next year which is only a few weeks away... Geaux Tigers. PS: I'm now retired and in hindsight, from running my own business for a long time and personal experience, feel fairly certain that when I had to fire someone and "change the locks", that came from my own inability to deal with problems sooner, rather than later. I really like LSU's AD and how he's dealing with the dumpster fire. Looking for something beautiful to rise from the ashes...
I think O was doing well leading up to 19. Good recruiting classes and some solid wins. Unfortunately, the attrition of players and staff might have left him a lil bitter and his ego kicked in to compensate. Not to diminish anyones personal experiences but it was alot like watching someone fall off the wagon and succumb to their old demons.
Reporting Farrel is out for bowl. Wish him well. He stuck out season and had a huge impact. Hope that was the only one. Some chatter about Clark as well.
