So I just saw part of this horrible football movie that I've seen before, Necessary Roughness, and it got me wondering... what are the best football movie that y'all have seen? For me, it is Friday Night Lights. I remember Jerry Maguire, Any Given Sunday, and The Program, but none of those were on the level of Friday Night Lights, to me. There are other football movies that I've seen that I really can't remember too much about (even more recent ones like Rudy and Remember the Titans). Anyway, what would y'all recommend to someone looking for the very best football movie(s)? Here are some nominations to help jog your memory: Sports Illustrated 1. Rudy (1993) 2. #1 Everybody's All-American Filmed at LSU and many think it is based on Billy Cannon but is actually based on a novel. Cannon actually inquired about a lawsuit but there were too many holes in the story. Dennis Quaid played the Grey Ghost and John Goodman played his best friend. If you have not seen it you are in for a treat because I can't help but watch it everytime I see it's playing on TV. Found an old thread on it: http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=42980&highlight=Everybody's+American
North Dallas Forty (Mac Davis as Don Meredith still cracks me up) Everybody's All American (Surprised this isn't more popular here!) Brian's Song Longest Yard (original, tho the remake is actually pretty darn good) Rudy Don Meredith, playing for the Cowboys, once threw an interception that LOOKED more like a completion to the defensive player. When he went to the bench there was an animated conversation with Coach Tom Landry who began to smack Meredith on the head (helmet off) with a rolled up piece of paper. Asked about it in a post-game interview, Meredith said Coach wanted to know why I threw that pass directly at the defensive player and I told him, "Well, Coach, he was the only one open!" :thumb:
1. Rudy (that is saying a lot about the movie considering my feelings about ND) 2. The Program 3. Friday Night Lights 4. Varsity Blues 5. All the right Moves
