I've never understood Springsteen, in the least. Steve Perry would be at the top of my list; his voice is so distinctive. Don Henley would be right up there, too.

I think Springsteen belongs. His voice is so distinct and recognized. He is certainly not the best singer, but I don't get the feeling that is what this thread is about. The dude flat outr rocks, and his voice is pretty much synonymous with blue color, hard working, Americana.
I have no problem with a guy like Springsteen, who really truly can't sing. I have Neil Young way up on my list for the very same reason LSUsupaFan alludes to. It's more than singing ability, it's passion and chemistry with the rest of the group.
I don't oppose him because he can't sing. I oppose him because I just have never liked him, while it seemed everyone else in the world did. It's the same way with me and U2.
