they changed the RPI this year to distinguish between home and away games. i dont have a problem with the theory, but the results are skewed.

We don't know how much weight the selection committee gives the RPI, but I don't like the huge difference between LSU and S. Ill.
their best win against Vandy #48. they also beat UTEP #58. but nothing else decent. they play in a crappy conference. Wichita St is good this year, SW Mo St is decent. Best team they played is #24 Wichita St, and they lost.
our best win against MSU #31. we also beat Ohio St #51, USC #42, Ark #59. We've played (and lost to) UK #8, Utah #25, Bama #14.

we only have one more loss than them (some how they have played several more games, so several more wins). our SOS is much higher #44 vs. #58. so how are they 24 spots higher than us?

    The difference is this:

LSU is 1-6 on the road.
    s. Illinois is 5-6 on the road.

just seems like way too much rpi difference for that, considering the things in LSU's favor

gumborue ... what rpi site are you looking at? I use collegerpi.com, which I heard was one of the best and closely mirrors the NCAA formula. It doesn't say anything about factoring road wins into its formula.

Just curious where you get your rpi info...

this is supposed to be the one used by the committee. i used to use collegerpi, too, but that is just some guy that tried to come up with a formula that gives similar results.

What exactly are things in LSU's favor compared to having won four times LESS games on the road than the team you're comparing them to?

Doesn't exactly scream out to potential selection committee members that LSU can hold it's own on neutral road sites...

We beat all those teams you list as positives at home, which we won't have the luxury of come tourney time...

We lost to all the teams you list as "moral victory losses" on the road...and we still have to face Bama at home again...

Bottom line, this team isn't tournament worthy...and it isn't worthy by a long shot...

umm, im not arguing about tournament worthiness

i would agree that lsu isnt tournament worthy, but youre showing your inexcusable anti-lsu bias by saying they arent "worthy by a long shot". its not even debatable. we are currently a bubble team

I've already covered the fact that I do NOT have an anti-LSU bias...I have a John Brady bias...and the bottom line is that this team-as coached by him-isn't close to an NCAA Tournament Berth...

Not now, definitely. As the future will unfortunately bear out, not then, either. Period.

I can call a spade a spade and still most decidedly be an LSU fan...I don't have to goose step with you and fellate Brady in order to keep from being called anti-LSU, and I resent the assertion...
