Per Dandy Don: Jerrard Randall a 4-star QB/Athlete from Florida has signed with LSU. DD compared him to Russell Shepard. Is he a real QB prospect? With Mett and Rivers in this class I was wondering about signing 3 QBs in one class.

He certainly seems to think he will only be playing QB. If he goes to the WR spot, I hope he is better than Shep has been.

    I guess our 2-star kicker recruit is a walk-on or a grayshirt now . . .

I don't know how these scholarship contracts are written, but it may be too late to pull scholarships. Both parties have signed. I suspect somebody is not going to qualify.

This is very interesting. I thought we were over the 85 limit and had to trim players.

I wouldn't use the Shepard comparison. Shep was more of a RB at his HS. Not much passing in that offense. I have a video posted in the recruiting forum from his Junior year. More of a Tyrod Taylor type.

He is coming in as a QB at least to start. I think he stays there.

Does he have to grayshirt, since we are at 23 right now?

Not sure how Fordham comes into the equation but I will look into it. What I heard before was that we had one spot left and were at 22 before Randall signed.

He doesn't have to if we are at 23 though. Could be someone else.

Eh, give them a chance to see our existing QB's play. I'm sure Randall will be heralded as the new phenom by the 2nd quarter of the spring game if Jefferson, Lee, and Mett are not all 100% with 6 TD's a piece in that game.

"The Hollywood, Fla. native is listed as 10th best duel-threat quarterback in the 2011 class and has reeled in more than a dozen other offers. If Randall were to sign with LSU, he would be the 23rd member of the class and the third quarterback, along with Zach Mettenberger and three-star signee Stephen Rivers."

If indeed he's brought in to be a QB I assume they will redshirt him.
