It wasn't even TECHNICALLY correct.

The British hadn't "learned" a thing. Bush knew that, Tenet knew that, Powell knew that, Cheney knew that. Rumsfeld knew that.

You run an apartment complex and your next door neighbor is sitting on something you want. Let's call that neighbor Saddam. You ask your resident watchdog, Tenant, to keep on eye on Saddam. You try to drum up support to get Saddam ousted from the neighborhood, and your buddy Tony shares your goal. Tony exposes a letter that says Saddam is building bombs in his basement, against neighborhood covenants, and says he has other sources for that info, too.

Tenant comes to you and tells you "that the letter is highly doubtful, and Tony's other claims are doubtful, too. So, when you call the police, don't mention that stuff." You agree.

Two months later you change your mind. You call the police and say that "Tony has learned Saddam is building bombs in his basement."

Only a blind idiot or a lying sycophantic fool would contend that your statement was true, technically or otherwise.

Somebody alert the Secret Service to this guy. I really think he's nearing the edge of the cliff.

Who gives a shit, Rex. Even if there wasn't a single high powered weapon in Iraq, the war is still JUSTIFIED. Saddam Hussein, an irrational dictator, is out of power and no longer a threat to the United States and everyone else who practices FREEDOM. Do you remember when they found that buried grave of IRAQI citizens that were buried alive by Husein? OH BUT ITS OK FOR SOMEONE TO DO THAT BECAUSE I WOULD RATHER SIT BACK AND TAKE A NON INTERVENTION APPROACH AND NOT STOP THAT GUY. Yes it sucks sometimes that the US has to police the world. But what if they didn't do anything? What if they let people like Saddam stay in power and A)Threaten our peace B)Treat his own people like garbage and C) completely disrespect the idea of basic Freedom for all....9/11 could have been prevented if we had taken action to suppress terrrorists instead of going after Somalia and other bullshit like that...Open you eyes and respect the people who are trying to stand up to savage leaders like Hussein instead of sitting back and waiting for him to strike next before we do anything...

Thanks Saban. It just irritates me when people throw that bullshit out. His apartment example is bogus andI could come up with 100 different scenarios using the same example that blew that shit out of the water.

My fear is not that Saddam doesnt have wmds. It is that he did, and we charged in not knowing where they are. Do you think Sadamm's terrorist friends don't know where they are. We made things a whole bunch more dangerous for ourselves if Saddam had wmds.

    A) was certainly a legitimate reason to go to war. Did Bush ever tied him to 9/11? If B) and C) are legit, then the 1)Saudi should be next as they are as vile in this area as anyone; 2)Gulf War 1 is in question because Sadaam's aggression is made moot by coddling Kuwaiti dictators; 3)We have Castro 60 miles away - why not him?
Unfortunately B) and C) are not reasons to go to war short of genocide, but they are useful to justify the campaign as making the world better (which it did).

Bill Clinton could have taken out Osama bin Laden when the Sudanese offered his head on a platter but Clinton sat back and did nothing.

And George Bush could have taken out sadaam 12 years ago; and if he hadn't financed his military in the first place, there would have been no sadaam to take out.
