Just to keep from derailing the Grammy thread. Were talking bands here, not individuals. We'll save Clapton and Elvis for another thread. I go with: BRITISH 1. Beatles 2. Stones 3. Zeppelin 4. Who 5. Pink Floyd ... or Yes ... or Kinks ... or Yardbirds AMERICAN 1. Doors 2. Grateful Dead 3. Beach Boys 4. Talking Heads 5. Aerosmith ... or The Band ... or Steely Dan ... or REM
British, hands down: American: Please, for the love of God, make them kill that "The Doors 2003" band. http://www.audiorevolution.com/news/0203/07.doors.shtml
British: Led Zeppelin Rolling Stones The Who The Beatles The Kinks American: Grateful Dead The Doors Creedence Clearwater Bob Dylan Cream
I am not a huge Guns N Roses fan...They made some good stuff, but nothing like the genius of Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, or The Who...
It's all a matter of preference, IMO. I liked Aerosmith for a number of years, but never really thought they did anything that was ground breaking like the rest of the bands mentioned. And yea, I'm including GNR there! I've tried to get the Dead so many times, but to no avail (with the exception of maybe 1/2 of an album.) To each his own though...
brits: beatles zep iron maiden oasis is not bad americans hendrix (fine, you want groups, i will throw in the experience.) weezer nirvana cream rage against the machine canadians: rush (better than most any other band)
