He may be in tune with the majority of the American people on most issues of race, but wait until people get wind of the fact that in 1983 as a Member of the US House, he and fellow House member John McCain voted against the Federal Black Holiday for The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior! Talk about hitting the fan! No way he overcomes that given the way white and asian and hispanic people celebrate that holiday.
I'm a bit confused on the issue of his being a member of an all-white fraternity. I know he was in a fraternity in the 1960's and my experience was a bit later. But we had a colored folk in our fraternity. We called her Mammy and she could cook up a batch of fried chicken for the membership. She was an honorary member so I can say I didn't belong to a no-negro fraternity. We treader our honorary colored member just fine.
