Da'Monte Coxie has committed to LSU, according to his Twitter.

Coxie is an under-the-radar prospect in this class. He earned an offer after a strong performance at LSU's Elite Camp this week. Coxie committed on the spot.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Coxie also held offers from McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss and Tulane.

    How this started:

East St. John wide receiver Da'Monte Coxie took very little time to commit to LSU once they extended an offer on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect was arguably the top performer on Friday, proving to be the most consistent wide receiver at the camp. Coxie was tested frequently by the LSU staff, as they threw all of their top prospects at him to get a feel for what kind of competitor he is. Well, the verdict is in; LSU likes what they saw.

Coxie "put on a clinic" at the Tulane camp on Saturday morning, according to a source, and received a call regarding his status with LSU shortly afterward. LSU requested a return visit to its campus, in which Coxie and his whole family gladly obliged. Once on campus, he met with LSU recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Frank Wilson and Les Miles. That's when the Tigers offered him a scholarship, leading to an instant commitment from the rising senior.

I love this type of commitment. Guy seems to have something to prove and went out and proved it culminating with an offer that he took immediately b/c he wanted to be a Tiger and play on a top team. He'll come in and bust his butt. He's already got good measurable and will only put on WT. Lot's to look forward to with this guy. Hopefully, he has character to match, and makes the most of his opportunity.

From Mike Detillier: LSU's newest football commitment ...East St. John WR. Da'Monte Coxie has sure hands, great length, a tough guy and hard worker....has good, not great top-end speed. (6-2 1/2, 185).... I have seen Coxie play a lot and he is a really good prospect for LSU and he gives his all out on the field. Talented young man.

First time in a long while I have not had to edit the title regarding a recruit committing to LSU.

    Nicely done, Dad!

He decommited today. LSU hadn't sent him a LOI. It seems like the problem is grades.

Already have 3 - 4 star receivers in this class to go along with a bevy of receivers currently on the roster, doesn't seem like too big a loss right now.
