Assuming that Drew Brees retires as most people think he will who is the starting QB for 2021? I have heard the name DeShsun Watson being mentioned but the Saints don't have the draft capital to pull off that trade.

By the time the Saints draft pick comes the very few potential future franchise QBs will be gone.

Don't throw rocks at me but I think it will be Jameis. He did accept his 2020 role without becoming a locker room problem. He did play well the few times he was called on. He has had a year to learn from Payton and Brees.

He has started 76 NFL games and is still only 26 years old. He did pass for over 5000 yards in 2019 despite the 30 interceptions. If Payton can make a few tweaks to his game and he has matured from the knucklehead he has been in the past I could see him starting for the Saints for the next 10 years.

Pretty much agree. There's no way we can get Watson. Zero, so people need to get that out of their heads. Jameis is the guy. It was even reported that Drew even told him 'this is your team now' when coming off the field for the last time.

@Bengal B The only extended PT Jameis got was against Niners, and I didn't think that went well at all. But that doesn't tell us what the staff was seeing from him in practice. I'm inclined to agree though, that they are going to go with JW or TH, at least in the short term.

I read that we are $95 million over the projected salary cap for next year. We’re about to see a possible mass exodus to completely rebuild. I just don’t know that Drew even has enough amo to come back even if he wanted to. It’s time imo. Unless Drew won’t retire. Then Sean would have a QB rotation basically. We’d probably be about the same as the last 2 years. Getting to the dance is at least giving us a shot.

Andris Peat will be back. I heard that with weird cap rules it would cost a bigger cap hit to cut or trade him than keep him

So how much is he worth? Is he worth more in production than the cap hit? If not we could trade him. Really good player and only 27 years old. Only real issue is durability.

Also it kinda sucks that our team that was built in 2017 came just as Brees was starting to show the first sustained decline in throwing the ball downfield. That’s why 2014-2016 really stick in my craw.

Being reported that the Lions are going to take Aaron Glenn away from us for their DC.

18 unrestricted free agents to be dealt with as well. IMO, only two are in the "pull out all the stops to keep them" class; Hendrickson and Rankins.

Keep them if you can, but don't get into a bidding war: Marcus Williams, P.J. Williams, Jared Cook, Jameis Winston, Ty Montgomery, Craig Robertson, Alex Anzalone, Michael Burton, D.J. Swearinger, Justin Hardee, Dwayne Washington, James Hurst

No great loss: Ken Crawley, Johnson Bademosi, Noah Spence, Bennie Fowler

Obviously, the team may feel different about a few of the guys in the second category, especially Winston and the two Williams.

I don't trust Rankins injury past won't be his future. Could win or lose on him ether way.

True, he's just damned productive when he's in there.
