    Historic production and a national championship mean a lot. You don't really think Grant Delpit was the best defensive back in the nation last year, do you? (He should have won the Thorpe in '18.)

    Well here us what O said in an interview posted on Geaux 24/7;

    Now, Orgeron is finding a way to balance the remaining spots with the biggest needs, beginning with adding to Dellinger on the offensive line.

    “Offensive line. No question, the offensive line,” Orgeron said when asked which position needed the most focus moving toward’s February’s National Signing Day. “We have five scholarships left. We have a couple guys that are silently committed that have taken up some spots. I can’t talk about them, but you will be excited about them. They are great players. I can’t say anything until February.

    “We have some guys in mind. We have some guys identified. We still have some great high school players out there that want to wait until February to sign. We think we are No. 1 on their list right now. I have three or four guys on the board, we have maybe five spots left, and three or four are offensive linemen. That’s our priority.”

    One of the recruits waiting until February is five-star Tristan Leigh, who changed course on Wednesday and decided not to sign in the early period, though he still plans to announce a college choice on January 2. The Tigers also offered the No. 1 offensive tackle out of junior college in Jordan Moko, and they continue to press to flip Florida State commitment Kimo Makaneole.

    There’s also the NCAA Transfer Portal, which could bring new names into the conversation this offseason. And there’s already one name circled in Eric Wilson, a Harvard graduate transfer who is committed to Auburn. With Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn being fired on Sunday and the staff uncertain of their futures, Wilson didn’t sign with any team on Wednesday. And that’s left the door cracked for LSU to make another push for Wilson after the staff reeled in his Harvard teammate a year ago in current LSU center Liam Shanahan.

    “I will save one (spot) for a graduate transfer,” Orgeron said. “We have a target on a graduate transfer. He’s an offensive lineman and I think we are going to get him. We have some of the top young offensive linemen in the country who are not committed, and I think we are going to sign them. We are targeting for offensive linemen, then maybe another cornerback and maybe a safety.”

    How the final spots gets filled will be one of the biggest questions over the next two months, and all eyes are on where the Tigers turn for more help in the trenches.

    LSU’s expected to go outside the state to find help on the offensive line, but the good news for the Tigers is that same approach might not be needed in the 2022 recruiting cycle. The No. 1 prospect in the state on 247Sports is Neville offensive tackle Will Campbell, whose one of the highest rated offensive tackles out of Louisiana since La’el Collins and Cam Robinson. The Tigers have also already offered a Baton Rouge offensive lineman in Catholic High’s Emery Jones. Meanwhile, players like New Orleans offensive tackle Cam East have already landed offers from the likes of Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Florida State.

    When asked which positions looked like the strength of the 2022 in-state recruiting class, Orgeron circled the offensive line.

    “Believe it or not, offensive linemen. Next year is a good year for the state of Louisiana with offensive linemen,” he said. “Usually we have to go out of the state to get them.”

    OK I will play your game. So if we didn't deserve the trophy as the best OL were we 2nd best, 3rd best or 4th best? Any of those rankings would be fabulous considering all the power 5 schools.

    Probably none of the above Mr. IQ, Joe sure seemed to scramble a lot. That doesn't happen with a great OL

    Last year's OL didn't have to be as good as you would normally want to have. Credit Joe Burrow and Clyde Edwards-Helaire for that. In the amount of time that Brennan/Finley/Johnson would be sacked Burrow had already either gotten the ball to our elite WRs, bought enough time for one of them to get open or CEH was already past the line of scrimmage.

    Well Mr no Q you just proved my point about this year's offensive line. Because neither of our QB's can scramble like Joe and we don't have CEH than it makes our line seem bad when it's not. So in your warped mind every lineman sucked last year and owe their lives to Burrow. The Joe Moore award is a joke. Well since awards are jokes than maybe Burrow didn't deserve the Heisman. Maybe his recievers and CEH made him look good.

    You're so deep and complicated.

    I think you can say that about any team. So football awards are useless the Joe Moore award is useless. Is the Heisman useless?
