    If you are in the Baton Rouge area or close proximity and cannot attend the Tennessee game in person you may want to consider this. You can watch the game at the Tiger on Bob Pettit Ave with Herb Tyler, Alan Risher and other former Tigers and help out victims of the terrorist attacks at the same time. Read on.....

    What: Operation Restore Hope -- an opportunity for sports fans in the Baton Rouge area to help the families of the fallen firefighters and police officers in New York City

    Where: The Tiger, 1003 Bob Pettit Blvd., Baton Rouge, La.

    BATON ROUGE, La. - The Baton Rouge Area Firefighters are teaming up with WIBR 1300-AM and the Baton Rouge Blaze for Operation Restore Hope, a fundraiser to collect money for the fallen emergency and rescue personnel who gave their lives in New York City while attempting to assist victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

    The fundraiser will be held at The Tiger at 1003 Bob Pettit Ave., in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 29. The event will begin at 4:00 pm and last through the LSU football game at Tennessee. WIBR will be broadcasting their LSU Football Pregame Show live from The Tiger prior to the game, which kicks off at 6:45 pm.

    Donations will be accepted during the event with all proceeds earmarked for The Baton Rouge Area Foundation, which has developed an avenue for the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish to show their sympathy for the families of fallen firefighters and police officers who met with tragedy on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 in New York.

    The foundation is accepting donations from the community to accompany its $10,000 contribution.

    Money will be raised via an auction of Baton Rouge sports memorabilia, which will include:

    - LSU jersey signed by Nick Saban
    - Football signed by the LSU football team
    - Baton Rouge Blaze game jersey signed by quarterback Herb Tyler
    - Baton Rouge Blaze game jersey signed by quarterback Melvin Hill
    - Football signed by former LSU quarterbacks
    - Baton Rouge Blaze helmet signed by head coach Alan Risher
    - An all-expense trip for two to a Baton Rouge Blaze road game in 2002
    - Other local sports memorabilia

    The Tiger will provide food during the event for a $5 donation. The auction will be held at halftime of the LSU-Tennessee game. Representatives of the Baton Rouge area firefighters and Baton Rouge Blaze players and coaches will also be on hand for the event.
