https://247sports.com/player/derrick-davis-jr-46049676/ Ranked the #2 safety in the country behind Sage Ryan the Pennsylvania native has long been thought to be a lock at Penn State if Ohio State didn't pull him. PSU has on staff the former head coach at his high school, but Ohio State is loaded up on DBs and Davis and his mom paid their way to visit campus last week. Think we're a dark horse that might well see some daylight. He's spoken highly of LSU and his visit. He certainly has a clear path to playing time here if he can play.

“We liked when coaches could have open dialogue and them just be honest, and we got that with LSU,” Davis Sr. said. “Even going into the season they said ‘we may struggle this year’. It wasn’t like others saying ‘its the best team in years’. “I challenged him to do his homework and look up what is what. Look at your options. What is the best fit for you? Two weeks ago we thought we lost #1 safety Sage Ryan to Bama. Then Sage rejected Saban on Nick's birthday. Today we just landed the #2 safety in Derrick Davis Jr. at his birthday party. DBU.
And we already have 2 of the top like 7 safeties from next year with a third being in state. We’re sitting pretty for years to come.
But who will block for the quarterback? And the running backs? Still only one offensive lineman in this class.
